Weird Sensation With Every Burp. Fluid Retention? Perforated Ear Drum?

When I burp I get a weird sensation, short lived with the burp, in my right ear. I showered last night and clean the ear with a q-tip so it could be either fluid retention or perforated ear drum. Which of these two options do you think the sensation matches? It is not a sensation that hurts and it doesn t happen when yawning, coughing, etc. Just when burping.

Dear Bittylazarus
Hello I am Dr Ravinder Sharma ENT surgeon
On the basis of information provided it appears that either
1.while taking a shower water has entered in the ear canal. It is a self limiting problem and will settle of its own
or
2. If you had wax in ear canal and some water has entered in ear canal possibly the wax is swollen and may cause this feeling of heaviness in ear

Burping causing a weird sensation in ear can be because of patulous eustachian tube or a dysfunction of eustachian tube

I would further say that it will be better to consult a ENT surgeon.

I hope this answers your concerns. Feel free to contact me if your need more information on this

With warm regards
Ravinder Sharma
