Weird Onion Smell In Nose, Stomach Problems, Acid In Throat, High Pulse Rate. GERD Symptoms?

I have had a funny garlic/onion smell occasionally in my nose for weeks, also had stomach problems and acid in my throat...the pharmacist gave me enzymes and probiotic which has helped the stomach but not the acid. Last night had bad acid in throat and this morning I am very dizzy and had diarrhea and my heartrate is 104 bmp. I am 41 year old female, 145 lbs. Have an underactive thyroid, and high cholesterol .

Hello,
Thanks for your query.
As you are having hypothyroidism, it is quite possible you get Gestroesophageal Reflux Disease and stomach upset, which presents with heart burn, food regurgitation and sore throat. Your hypothyroidism may risk you frequent infections that may also upset your GIT due to weak immune system and cause diarrhea, that is why you are prescribed with probiotic.
You need to check your dehydration caused by diarrhea and compensated by increased heart rate. Once you rehydrate yourself with plenty of water, ORS and other fluids, your heart rate will come down.
Some medications like Prilosec (used to treat heartburn) suppress stomach acids
You should exercise regularly
avoid spicy food, high fat diet, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol smoking.
take small and frequent meals
do not go to bed within 2 hours of taking meal
use extra pillows to raise head.
If symptoms persists for more than a week then visit your doctor for further management.
Hope it helps.
Take care!
