Treatment For Muscle Spasms, On Muscle Relaxers. No Improvement. Steroids Helps. Now Feel Muscle Is Numb. Problem?
Since June 27 I have been to the ER 4 times and to my PCP 3 times for unbearable pain. They have all been treating me for muscle spasms and giving me muscle relaxers which has done nothing at all for my pain. The pain has gotten so bad it is hard to live with. On Aug 9 my last trip to the ER the Doctor gave me steroids which did help with the pain, for some reason the steroids make the pain bearable. Now today when I got up I noticed that the muscle in my leg (inner thigh) is now collapsed and feels numb. And the muscle on the outer part of my thigh is now starting to do the same thing. What could be wrong with me?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. Based on your symptoms in the description, I suspect some form of neuropathy in you. There are numerous conditions and causes that result in numbness along with atrophy of the muscles. A detailed neurological evaluation is needed to establish the diagnosis. I suggest you to consult a neurophysician for further workup and management. Hope this information is helpful. Good day
