Took Primolet N To Delay Periods. Forget Tablets, Having Spotting, Abdominal Pains. Has My Periods Started?

Hi Doctor,
I am in a dilemma, I have my wedding on 25th Nov and I have to be period free, I thought I will delay periods this month so I won't have to worry next month, my due date was 23rd Oct, I started taking primolut N on 20 Oct, but it was ok till 25th. Two days because I forget to take 3 tabs I took only 2, today on 26th Nov I noticed spotting and pain in lower abdomen as I usually get in my periods, I am continuing Primolut N but I am confused if i have started my periods, do I have to take Primolut N next month, According to culture marriage is invalid if bride has periods on wedding night. Please help what to do?

Hello
Thanks for your query.
See, firstly, wait for a couple of days to see if the bleeding continues and develops into full fledged menstrual bleeding.
Whether it does or doesnt, stop the Primolut, and let the bleeding be.
Next month, start taking the drug well in advance, right from 18th onwards, as long as you do not want to menstruate.
Then when you stop, you will menstruate within 2 - 3 days, maximum within a week.
I hope the drug is taken on prescription after consulting a gynaecologist, and ruling out contraindications for use.
All the best.

OBGYN Dr. Sree Gouri SR's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The spotting you had could be break through bleeding due to missing the dose of progesterone pill.
As you are continuing the tablets it will possibly subside soon.
If the spotting persists, consult gynecologist once and take anti - fibrinolytic tablets to stop the spotting.
You can continue the progesterone pills with her advice till the time you want.
After stopping the pills in 4 to 5 days, you will get withdrawal bleeding.
And possibly next menstrual cycle will come one month after withdrawal bleeding.
After discussing with your doctor you can know when to stop the tablets, so that you can avoid menstrual flow during your periods.
Take care.
