Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Unilateral swelling is due to a local cause...

When both sides are affected, a systemic cause is to be looked for - Heart, Lung, Kidney, Liver, Low protein, major vein (IVC) block and so on...

The treating doctor can easily suggest based on his assessment of the situation. A few investigations may be needed...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
