Hello, I am so sorry to hear of your struggles. I suggest that first we get your thyroid working or nothing else is going to balance out. What is your TSH? Let me explain. A high TSH (hypothyroidism) is generally treated with synthroid, or T4, or the INACTIVE form of the thyroid hormone and relies on your body to do the conversion to T3, the active hormone. It takes iodine to complete these biochemical transformations. Medications can be revised to give you a bovine supplement that actually has active T3 in it, it is just difficult to standardize the doses. Even most endocrinologists will hesitate to prescribe T3, but you might want to talk to the doctor. It is imperative that you follow a low iodine diet. Take your thyoid supplement first thing in am with water and do not eat food for at least another hour. As soon as your thyroid is regulated, I know you are following your low iodine diet and avoiding the foods that interfere with the medications absorption, we can talk further about your symptoms - if they still exist. Good luck to you!
