Suggest Treatment For Whitlow On Finger

Hi, I have a whitlow on my left index finger, it is now about a week since it appeared. I have only just realised what it is. Somewhat painful but not badly so unless I knock it on something. I am not a go to the doctor type person and would appreciate some advice as to whether to leave it or how to treat it. I am 70 years of age and have only ever had something like this once before in my life and that was an ingrowing toenail.....any help welcomed. chris

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that you might be having nail bed infection.
There is indurastion now and pus formation is not started.
Gfor one antibiotic medicine course for 3-5 days.
If pus formation is started, you have to go for removal of pus and dressings.
Ok and take care.
