Suggest Treatment For Weight Loss, Diarrhea And Dizziness

This is about my 33 yr old daughter. She is a mother of two 5 yr olds and one 21 month old. She is a great mother. She has been losing weight and experiencing sweating, weakness, shaking, dizziness and sometimes her legs knee down feel as though they are very heavy. Fingers, toes tingle. Feeling of exhaustion & feels like she is going to pass out. Sometimes if she eats something she feel some better. Celiac disease was ruled out and various other things. She gets diarrhea off and on. Colonoscopy ruled out any problem there. She was diagnosed with Graves Disease by a different doctor. She is taking medication for that. Often she has to return to her doctor for a blood test due to feeling ill to see if her Thyroid is functioning to high or low and medication has to be changed. This has been going on for around 2 years but these symptoms have increased in intensity over the last year. She has a family physician who told her she needed to take supplements for Magnesium and Zinc. After about a week of taking the supplements she felt wonderful for a few days then back to feeling terrible. A Neurosurgeon found nothing there ruling out MS last year. A week ago while sitting calmly in church her finger next to her pinky started twitching like crazy! No one seems to be able to help diagnose this. She recently had 3 large Fibroids successfully removed. She was told that she has Autoimmune Disease. Where can she go to find a diagnosis? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If they have not already been done, she should have a panel of blood tests such as complete blood count, ESR (checks for inflammation in the body, it would be high in autoimmune diseases), vitamin b12 and folate levels, liver and kidney function, electrolyte levels, serum protein electrophoresis.

These are some of the tests done in the assessment of neuropathy (nerve related symptoms). She should consider seeing a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
