Suggest Treatment For Weakness In The Legs And Headache

I am having a lot of weakness in my legs and dizziness/headache etc. I have a retinal occlusion that has been bothering me and being treated for several months with no success. It doesn t seem right. How do you tell if there is something else I should be looking at?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would explain that your symptoms could be related to vertebro-basilary insufficiency or a metabolic disorder. For this reason, I recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries and some further tests:

-complete blood count for anemia
-blood electrolytes for any imbalances
-kidney and liver function tests
-fasting glucose.

A brain Angio MRI may be needed to investigate for possible vertebro-basillary insufficiency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
