Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain And Swallowing Difficulty

I am 39 ,height 5"3,weight 140lb,I am a health woman with hypothyroidism (taking Levothyroxine 50 MCG) Today morning when I was eating food (it was crispy and hard) it got stuck in my throat and I think as it went down the throat it scratched my throat. for a minute I was having hard time breathing and vomitted some blood. After a minute the food went down the throat. after that I have been having severe throat pain and difficulty swallowing. I gargalled salt water and taking Advil. what else should I do Please help

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the hard chip has caused laceration in the mucosa of your throat and food pipe leading to inflammation and swelling that is causing throat pain and difficulty in swallowing..

As you are doing warm saline gargles and taking Advil or is appropriate treatment and you can continue doing the same..
You can also drink plenty of cool water as it will reduce inflammation and swelling and ease the discomfort..
You should take a soft diet and more of liquids..
Completely avoid spicy food..

In case if still the symptoms does not improve within a week consult an Otolaryngologist and he can do an upper G.I Endoscopy to rule out the exact cause of level of injury and treatment can be planned accordingly..
