Suggest Treatment For The Flared Up Crohn's Disease
I have crohns disease which been flared up for the last month.I have just had my infliximab treatment but it doesn't seem to have worked even half as well.I also have methotrexate injections.for the last 4 days I've had long spells of feeling shivers, nausea, tired, weak and dizziness. My crohns isnt at its worse at all.I take paracetamol every for hours to keep the shivering under control but I still have all the other symptoms.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is a kind of malaise and it is not the symptoms of Crohn disease, but it seems to be due to some infection.
Firs, it could be viral fever, if this is so, then you need to have patience for few days to see its symptoms. If this is bacterial infection then it needs to be differentiated.
Second, such conditions can be managed on tentative basis with tablet Doxycycline. Consult your physician for prescription.
Such case demands investigation if symptoms do not subside. Functional dysfunction could be another cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
