Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes, Cold, Body Pain And Exhaustion

Hello,
I have had swollen and painful glands on the left side (under chin, just above collarbone) for about three weeks. I developed a cold after the first week. I have never had painful swollen glands with a cold and am worried that it is not getting better. I am also still exhausted and experiencing body aches and a bad but dry chest cough. No fever. This seems like a cold, but I am eating well, sleeping, and drinking lots of water. Why isn't it getting better?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It looks like viral infection only and it can cause swollen glands or swollen lymph nodes. The swollen lymph nodes can take a longer time to get better so do not worry about it.

In case if it is not getting better consult an Emergency room and get a blood test done.

For now, take Dextromethorphan syrup to reduce a cough and Paracetamol for aches. Drink warm water and take steam inhalation.

Take sufficient rest and avoid spicy and irritant foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
