Hi,

Urethral swelling can be caused by a variety of factors, including infections (such as a urinary tract infection or sexually transmitted infection), inflammation (such as urethritis or prostatitis), injury, or blockages (such as a urethral stricture).

It is important to see a healthcare provider for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. They may perform a physical examination and order tests such as a urine sample or imaging tests to help determine the underlying cause of the swelling.

Treatment options may vary depending on the cause of the swelling but may include antibiotics for infections, anti-inflammatory medications, pain relievers, and in some cases, surgery. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions for treatment and to continue any prescribed medication until the course is complete.

In the meantime, it may be helpful to avoid any irritants or potential causes of further inflammation, such as harsh soaps or bubble baths, and to drink plenty of fluids to help flush out the urinary system. Applying a warm compress to the affected area may also help to reduce swelling and discomfort.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
