Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Tongue

I got into either poison ivy or poison oak and it is in my bread and now my tongue is swelling a little bit. also the gland in the side of my neck is a little stiff. I worry about this because I had open heart surgery 10 years ago and things like this scare me.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain Poison ivy or Poison oak can cause severe anaphylaxis or allergic reaction and in case if there is swelling in tongue you should immediately consult an Emergency room as excess swelling of tongue can obliterate airways and cause choking..

Commonly poison ivy or poison oak represents in the form of rashes, blisters and severe itching, so first of all an evaluation of the exact cause of swelling of tongue will be ruled out and then treatment can be advised accordingly..

So it should be immediately taken into consideration..

You can be advised anti allergic medication along with steroid oral as well as injectable to reduce swelling..
Topical application of steroid ointment like Prednisolone can be advised..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
