Suggest Treatment For Sunburn On Feet And Lower Leg
Hi, I recently went to the beach and when I got there I realized I had forgot sunscreen. I got a sun burn on my feet and lower leg causing extreme burning, chills, and loss of sleep. I have been putting aloe Vera on it and drinking lots of water. Is there anything else I could try or should i go see a doctor?
Hello, Thank you for posting on HCM. Acute sun burns are sometimes frightening but nothing to worry as its pretty easy to manage. Generally, I advise short course of prednisolone along with local application of mometasone cream and soothing calamine lotion twice a day. Antihistaminics and antioxidant tablets can additionally be added. Use high SPF broad spectrum sunscreen everytime before going out in sun. Cold sponging will definitely help. Hope this will take care of your issue. Wish you best of health. Thank you Dr Hardik Pitroda M.D Dermatology
Hello It would be best to have a doctor look at this but for now, benadryl and application of Eucerin cream will help. You may need a shot of cortisone if it's continued for more than three or four days
I can understand your concern for sun burn. You have got sun burn due to ultraviolet rays on the beach. And that is responsible for burning sensation and discomfort. You are right..local application of aloe vera might reduce the burning. I think..oral steroid in tappering dose might enhance the improvement. Cold compresses might benefit you. However, you may consult dermatologist...ok
Thanks.
