Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

Hi there.I woke up this morning and my throat was a bit sore. I took acetemitiphen and left for school, as the day went on it got worse. Now the whole right side of my throat is killing me. I have taken amoxicillin, and tried gargling salt water, and I also had soup. Do you have any ideas on what it could be? or any suggestions on how to make my throat better?? Every time I swallow or move my tongue it starts hurting.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common cause of acute onset of throat pain is viral infection.

Bacterial infection of the throat is not as common as viral. Antibiotics would not be effective if it is a viral infection.

Treatment is mainly asymptomatic.

You may want to consider the use of a gargle or lozenge such as chloroseptic, diflam.
These contain an antiseptic as well as pain relieving aspect.

I hope this helps
