Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ive been having sharp pain in my lower left abdoman/pelvis. It s been going on for several months. It s noticeably worse with emotional stress, physical activity and menstration. It also travels around my lower back and sometimes the pain is so intense my left leg aches. It lasts hours at a time and has become more constant. What could this be? Should I see a pcp or gyno? Please help.
See there can be many causes for your lower abdominal pain.we need to have a detailed history and examination for that.
It can be due to urinary tract infection(usually associated with burning urine) or enteritis or colitis (infections related to intestines) or kidney related causes(stone or infection ).
Even persistent constipation can cause such type of pain.Since it is related to your menstrual cycle it can also be due to to gynaecological causes like ovarian cyst, endometriosis ( problem in uterus )or pelvic inflammatory diseases.
Do drink plenty of water and avoid fatty and spicy food.Since it is an intense pain and is there from several months,I feel that you should get yourself investigated.Get complete blood count,CRP, urine test and ultrasound abdomen.
Once we have the results we can know the exact the diagnosis and then we can decide which doctor to meet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
