Suggest Treatment For Severe Tinnitus With Lack Of Lubrication In Inner Ear

I have severe tinnitus. I just read that Iron and pottasium are essential for this conditionn. I feel there is not enough lubrication in my inner ear. If this is so, is there a medicine that can help.My earspecialist, does nothing for me apart looking into the ear and then sends me home. No tests-nothing. Can you suggest anything that would at least stop it from progressing? thank You

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Tinnitus is a problems wherein the diagnosis and management may not be possible in every case, the results of treatment are not productive every time in each patient hence many doctors and ENT specialists are not much interested. Consult another ENT surgeon who is interested and works for tinnitus and giddiness cases as there is a developing field called Neuro-ENT field. You can then avail all the relevant investigations and thus may be possible to get an appropriate management.

Till then take care by avoiding any acoustic trauma by exposure to loud sounds. Avoid anything that cause you more trouble. I am sure you will get an interested ENT surgeon and hence get you though the problem of tinnitus. Till then continue medicines that may help directly or indirectly as would be advised by your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
