Suggest Treatment For Severe Eye Pain

Hi Dr. Grief. I got poked in my eye this past wed by a girl drying my hair at a salon. I think her hands may have been dirty and I was having some pain. I went to my eye dr yesterday who is an O.D. and she said I had a mild bacterial infection and abrasion. She prescribed Tobramycin Ointment 4x daily for 5 days. I m one of these people who do not like to take pills, vitamins, etc. My eye doesn t look bad and the pain is gone. Should I buy this ointment and still take it? Could the infection go away on it s own? I usually do not do well w/drugs. I m allergic to Penicillin, Amoxocillin, Augmentin, and I even had a reaction to a Tetanus Shot I got last yr for a cut. Is this ointment safe to use?

Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having pain in the eye following injury because of corneal abrasion. It is a painful condition and it takes 1-2 weeks for complete relief. The treatment is by use of antibiotics and artificial tears eye drops. Tobramycin is an antibiotic and it is safe to use.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Thank you
