I had loose motion 4 days back, not a severe one.. so just to stop it i had lomofen.. after that its been 3 days now and i have the severe urge to shit but when i actually go , not much stool comes out. I have this urge every couple of hours for the past 3 days but the problem of not enough stool prevails. Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having severe constipation which could be due to many reasons such as

- poor absorption and inadequate digestion of food.

-eating a lot of dairy products

-irritable bowel syndrome

-some medications like antidepressants

-acidity and certain conditions like hypothyroidism.

Need not to worry. You should start with drinking a lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement psyllium, calcium polycarbophil , osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity . surgery for rectocele.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
