Suggest Treatment For Severe Aortic Valve Regergitation

My mother is 77 years old. She had an aorta replacement (sock) at UNC Chapel Hill in December 2010. We just found out she now has a developed a moderate to severe aortic valve regergitation. We started seeing a decline in her health about a month ago. She is 5'3" tall and weights 158 lbs. Her pressure today was 168/58. Otherwise, she is healthy. Doc said her pump is fine, and prescribed Altace/Ramipril to reduce the leak. She has a TEE scheduled and an appt with Dr. Deeb at UM Ann Arbor has been made for 2 weeks from now. In your opinion do you think she'll even be a candidate for Aortic valve replacement? There is a new study involving a noninvasive aortic valve replacement procedure through the leg vein. Has anyone heard of what the results have been so far with the new procedure? Thank you.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Also called as percutaneous valvuloplasty and is yielding good results.
2. She should be an ideal candidate for this procedure, if there is any further deterioration of valve function
3. Discuss with your doctor regarding this. Also regular medication and monitoring of blood pressure and cardiac function is necessary.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
