Suggest Treatment For Red And Swollen Arm After An Insect Bite

My son was asleep in his crib and all of the sudden started screaming! He was holding his arm and it was red , we thought it may have fell asleep and its numb but we saw this tiny pin prick , we didn t see any insect but he kept screaming and holding his arm. What could it be? Its not raised , just red and swollen with a pin prick looking bite

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It seems that you have been bitten by an insect, possibly a spider or a tick. Apart from the surrounding erythema, there is a central vesciculation indicating the same. Please let me know if there is an associated itchiness. If present, Cetirizine or some anti-allergic tablet is to be taken once daily for the next few days. If the rash continues to spread or if you get fevers, it indicates that the condition is serious and that you should see a doctor at the earliest. If it resolves in next few days and no fever occurs, perhaps there is nothing to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
