Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding

I have had light but constant vaginal bleeding for about a month. Sometimes it only flows when I urinate or have a bowel movement, other times I have a light flow and need a pad or tampon. Not a lot of pain with this, but did have about 3 days of cramping about a week ago. I am 55 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance, cervix/endometrium dysplasia, adenomyosis/fibroid, Pelvic inflammatory disease, polyp.
I would suggest to consult the gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, reproductive hormone analysis, USG scan, PAP smear/colposcopy and endometrium biopsy if needed
Specific treatment will depend in the cause and test result.
Progesterone pill and tranexamic acid will help in reduce the bleeding
Avoid stress, take healthy diet with iron supplements, maintain proper pelvic hygiene, drink plenty of water
Hope this may help you

Contact further if follow up needed
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
