Suggest Treatment For Persistent Nausea And Dizziness

Have dizziness for last 3-5 years occasionally. Now it has increased in last 2 months. Antivert helps some but not completely. When it gets too bad, I get nauseated. Hx of heart attack and tons of ear infections when I was a child. Do I need to see my heart doc or an ear specialist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You continue to take Antivert & avoid driving when you are feeling dizzy or nauseating. You have history of ear infections. Vertigo is commonly caused due to ear inner ear dysfunction (balance). You should get audiometry test done & your inner ear get examined. Get evaluated, get treated.

Since you have a history of heart attack, get Lipid function test, CBC, ECG, Urinalysis, X-Ray, Stress test done at the earliest. You may require to go for CT & MRI. This is to rule out any developing coronary artery disease. In the meantime stay away from addictions if any, avoid oily food & do regular exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
