Suggest Treatment For Nausea, dizziness And Tinnitus

Hello I have been feeling unwell for the past few days. I have nausea dizziness, ringing in my ears headaches and I feel like my heart is beating hard and fast all the time. I went to the pharmacy today and used one of those blood pressure monitors and over a 60 minute period (during which I ate lunch and tried to relax) my BP was 154/94, 148/94 and 147/93. Background: I am under care with a pain mgmt/sports doc for a shoulder/neck injury. I have a VERY high tolerance for pain meds and was prescribed by my neuro (a year ago) Imipraime 25mg at night. He said that this drug would help the neuro(whetevers) extend the communication time to help the meds work better. I take Percocet 10/235 for pain every 4 hours. I noticed during the past several office visits with my pain mgmt. doc that my bp seemed to be getting higher each visit (i usually am a very low bp person). And since I was starting to have some decrease in my shoulder and neck pain I decided that maybe I should stop taking the imipraime and see if that would help reduce my bp (last year neuro told me I could start and stop this drug whenever I want). So now the Percocet is not working well and I have these other symptoms. Should I call my doc about this or wait until my next appointment?

Hello,

Tinnitus can also cause nausea & dizziness. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT.

Get Audiology done to assess the degree of hearing loss. Get MRI or CT done to confirm tinnitus.

Nausea & dizziness associated with tinnitus can also be caused by the rare side effects of the medicines(imipramine) you are taking.

You should report to your treating doctor & discuss the symptoms so that the dose can be reduced or the medicines can be replaced by medicines that suits you better.

Avoid stress, cut on alcohol. Do not drive. Your treatment (by medicine, hearing aids, wax removal, minor surgery or life style changes) will depend on the pathology detected & your clinical condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
