Hi,

Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen. Oxycodone is a narcotic pain reliever that can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and slowed breathing. It is possible that taking Percocet can cause an increase in heart rate, although this is not a common side effect.

If you have noticed an increase in your heart rate after taking Percocet, it is important to discuss this with your healthcare provider. They can evaluate your heart rate and determine if there is any cause for concern. It is also important to follow the prescribed dosing instructions and not take more Percocet than prescribed, as this can increase the risk of side effects.

In general, if you experience any unexpected or concerning symptoms after taking medication, it is important to contact your healthcare provider. They can guide whether it is safe to continue taking the medication and whether any additional monitoring or treatment is needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
