Hello and thank you for using HCM.
I carefully read you question and i understand your concern. I will try to explain you something.
This missing beats are related to electrical system of the heart. Electric impulses that generate in a part of the heart different from normal sinusal rhythm cause this escape missing beats. If these are not frequent, in a normal heart, than we should not worry.
But if they give symptoms like palpitations, if they are frequent and interfere in a normal daily live than we should treat them and of course discover the cause if it is any.
Sometimes this missing beats are caused by emotional stress or pathologyes like anemia, thyroid gland problem like hyperthyroidism, isckemic heart desease.
So, if i was your treating doctor i will recommend a blood analyze to exclude anemia and his thyroid hormones.
After that i will recommend again a rhythm holter monitoring. Through the holter we can discover how frequent are this escaped beats and if we should treat them or not. If it is possible i will recommend a stress test to exclude coronary heart problems as your father is diabetic and hypertensive.
After doing these thinks we can judge what to do.
Hope I was helpful. Wish your father good health.
Best regards.
