Suggest Treatment For Joint Pain And Difficulty In Walking

My mother is 81 and takes amlodipine 10 mg, lisinopril 20 mg, hydralazine 10 mg 3 times daily, bystolic 2.5 mg, and eliquis 5 mg 2 times daily. She recently started the bystolic and eliquis (Feb. I believe). She has recently been having very bad joint pain and difficulty walking. Her blood pressure is often low on our home monitor (around 100/65). Her doctor does not seem concerned, but could she be on too much medicine. I was thinking about lowering her amlodipine to half a 10 mg pill or only taking the hydralazine 2 times a day. I hate to stop the bystolic, because it really helps her heart rate, and it is a low dose at 2.5 mg.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to consult with Cardiologist the possibility of reducing the doses of medications. I think she should do and echocardiogram, electrocardiogram to evaluate the possibility of heart failure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
