Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods While Being Overweight

Hi, I am 27 years old and 114 kgs weight. Last year i suffered from irregular menstrual cycle for 2 months then when i went to doctor , my doctor asked me to test ultra sound.I have bilateral PCO, i have 3 to 4 small cysts in my lower stomach. my TSH, FSH,LH and PRL are normal. My doctor prescribed me GESTOFIT (15 days)and GLYCOMET (30 days), and asked me to loose weight. After that my periods are normal. But She has given me some tablet for immediate menses , and i got menses in 3 days. Later after my periods i was supposed to follow the treatment. Now again after an year I got same problem , same symptoms like before( slight pain in lower stomach, menstual cramps but no menses). I dont remember the tablet which she has given me for immediate menses, i just remember the after menses tablets, Can someone suggest me the tablet for immediate menstruation. I am now in different city, cant go to the same doc.

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
The irregular period is due to bilateral PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). The cause of this syndrome you have been diagnosed is your overweight. Overweight cause resistance insulin, this cause excess insulin in blood causing high androgen hormonal level and decrease of progesterone hormone level, for this reason your doctor had prescribed to you glycomet (metformin) and gestofit(dydrogesteron) synthetic progesterone and the other drug that you didn’t remember probably was Provera (medroxyprogesteron acetate),another synthetic form of progesterone it is taken 5-10 days at month day 16-21of the menstrual cycle, but you should go again to the doctor before you taken the pills.
I recommend you to choose a healthy lifestyle and lose weight, choosing a healthy diet for reducing the weight and the insulin blood level its recommendable high-fiber and low-sugar carbohydrate foods e.g. fresh fruits, non starchy fresh vegetables ,whole grain; you should avoid sweetened juice, starchy vegetables( potato, corn, peas),white floor foods: breads, pasta etc, sugar drinks and foods (cakes ,cookies etc),snacks as Doritos.
You should do minimally 30 minutes of brisk walking every day.
To reach the goal of lose weight I recommend you to go to a dietitian and frequent a gym advised by a professional instructor.
Loosing weigh you can prevent PCOS and other disease that have high risk to develop in the next future by your overweight problem.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
