I have very irregular periods. So it doesn t phase me when I go without for a month or two. I usually just have a period and then it s a guessing game when I will have one again. About 3 weeks ago, I was treated for a UTI and took antibiotics. Well I started my period then, but it was very light and abnormal for me. I bled steadily like that for around 3 days and then it would stop and show up 2 or 3 days later. It has continued like this up until yesterday. I have since started bleeding very very heavily. I have never experienced a period where the bleeding is this bad and full of blood clots. I just want to know what is going on, seeing as how my doctor never had any open appointments. Please help!
From your history, it appears that you are having some hormonal imbalance. To clinch the diagnosis, ultrasonography, study of the uterine lining (endometrium) and blood hormonal profile like FSH, LH, Oestrogen, Progesterone and Prolactin would be useful. Then depending upon the underlying cause, the treatment can be planned.
Meanwhile, you may start some oral contraceptive pills cyclically (after giving the blood fro hormonal profile) for few months, with the advice of a Gynaecologist.
Urinary infection cannot be responsible for your irregular menses.
