Suggest Treatment For Infection On The Testicles

Hi, I have fungus infectons near testicles for about 6 years. I was applying the Onabet cream for that. In the last few days I got heavy itching in the testicles, and the testicles become heavy. I used to scratch the itching regions with my nails. Now the testicle is wounded and a liquid is coming out of it. Please help me whether this is psoriasis (or) fungi.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems you got some secondary bacterial infection over the area. Initially you seem to have suffered from fungal infection but due to scratching of the area you would have got bacterial infection also. I would advise you to apply mixture of an antifungal and an anti-bacterial ointment, viz. Miconazole and Soframycin respectively in equal proportion twice or thrice a day for at least 1 week. Thereafter you should continue to apply Miconazole for a long time, may be a month or more.

In addition to above, you should take a course of an oral antibiotic viz. Capsule amoxycillin 500 mg thrice a day for 5 days along with tab Cetirizine 10 mg twice a day (Cetrizine may make you drowsy, so be cautious about it) under the guidance of a physician. Please wash the area at least twice a day before applying ointment and keep the area clean and dry. You would need to change your undergarments frequently.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
