hi, i have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since 2008, i am 26yrs old and have not yet conceived. i had a thyroid u/scan done in 3/11/2009 with shows hypovascular thyroid lobes bilaterally, mass at the base of tongue?ectopic thyroid. i was asked to do an fna of the mass but every time i go to the pathologist my tsh levels change. help me. thank you
Hello there, I would like to know some things about your problem. Are you any thyroid medicines? If they suspect the mass at base of your tongue to be ectopic thyroid they can confirm it by a technitium scan. Why did they ask you for an FNA? Your TSH values change everytime means how much? If your TSH values are between 0.35-5.0 it is considered normal in most labs. However if you plan to conceive, your TSH values need to be betwee 1-2.5 in the first trimester. So your treatment needs to be adjusted accordingly. Please visit an endocrinologist who can guide you. Hope this helps. Take care.
