Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child

Hi, my child is two and a half years old and is having high fever 103 F in armpit; we have tried giving him paracetamol but the fever is not coming down. The fever started two days ago and it became bad only tonight. We suspect Dengue but havent got his blood tested yet; we were going to have it done tomorrow morning.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
I see similar cases in my clinic everyday. During fever, initially you should give paracetamol syrup PO 5 ml sos and do cold sponging, if fever doesn't decrease in half hour then you can give meftal P 5 ml PO sos. This will definitely bring the temperature down. However, since dengue cases are on rise, you need to do some investigations like cbc, NS1 Antigen test, malarial antigen test. Further treatment will depend on above reports.
I hope this has helped you. Take care.
