General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the high BP during third trimester.

High BP in third trimester can lead to serious even fatal complications like preeclampsia which can be harmful to both mother and the growing fetus (baby).
It can cause growth retardation of the fetus, low birth weight or preterm birth. Prematurity can lead to breathing problems for the baby.
Placental abruption (separation) can cause heavy bleeding.
Premature delivery to prevent potentially life-threatening complications.

In view of the above possible complications, you are therefore advised to consult an obstetrician for the immediate treatment of high BP, which may involve the use of medications like Methyldopa or Hydralazine.

Hope this answers your query.
