Suggest Treatment For Heroin Addiction

Hi I just found out my daughter had been shooting herion by finding a rather large long needle in her room. I asked to see her arms. Which looked so horribly chewed up I noticed a lump at one injection sight that she said was very painful. She died not have health insurance and being a struggling single mother, if it s serious I will take her. If not I just want to know. It s a bump about the size of a spit ball. Not sure how old you are but imagine a straw wrapper rolled up, a good size but not not near the size of a vein. She will be going to a local rehab but they have no beds for 3 weeks. She s claims this happened today directly following injection. And is very sore. Please please help me.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
We understand your concern.

Swelling could be secondary to faulty injection, or due to infection [thrombophlebitis].She would need to apply heparin ointment on the site. She will need doctor consultation if she develops fever and if pain does not reduce.

She definitely needs help to stop using heroin. Please consult a psychiatrist as there are plenty of options to deaddict her from heroin.

Hope the answer has helped you.
