Suggest Treatment For Headache, burning In Head And Feeling Hungry Often

Hi

I have suffered with a post nasal drip from left nostril on and off for years. It started again about a month ago and at same time I have a burning feeling in my stomach and feel hungry even though I have eaten. I don't have a headache or a heavy feeling in my head, but the taste from the post nasal drip is quite offensive and affects my breath. Could you advise what this could be?

Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Post-nasal drip is not a medical condition, but it may be a symptom of another medical condition that causes excessive mucus production (e.g., sinusitis, rhinitis, or infections).
In some cases, post-nasal drip can be caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
GERD is a condition when the stomach acid moves up into esophagus and throat causing throat inflammation and excessive mucus production.

The symptoms you describe are indicative for Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
You should do some lifestyle changes to relieve the symptoms including:
- Elevate the head of the bed six to eight inches
- Avoiding foods and beverages for two to three hours before bedtime
- Eliminate alcohol and caffeine from the daily diet.
You can use antacids such as Maalox,Gaviscon, and drugs that block stomach acid production (PPI drugs) such as Omeprazol,Pantoprazol for two weeks and see if your symptoms will relieve.

I suggest to consult a physician and discuss this with him.

Hope my answer has helped.
Take care.
