hi. i have read your question and understand your concern.

pus filled lesions over scalp associated with eczema are indicative of seborrheic dermatitis. its a type of eczema which most commonly involves scalp, but the other areas involved are ears, sides of nose, upper chest, upper back. these are the same areas that you have mentioned. so my strong suspicion is that he has seborrheic dermatitis.

you need to understand that its a recurring eczema but can be managed very well with proper treatment.

now since your son is only 1 year old we cannot treat him aggresively. so i suggest you start using mild ketoconazole based shampoos, the ones that contain conditioners as well, for example triatop shampoo. this shampoo has to be used on alternate days. leave the shampoo for 2-3 minutes and then wash it off.

as for the skin lesions you can apply a mild steroid antifungal combination like candid-b cream twice daily. also for symptomatic relief an antihistamine like cypon drops can be given. it will reduce the irritation.

avoid oils as these can exacerbate the condition.

i suggest you see your dermatologist and get a prescription after confirming the diagnosis.

hope this helps. for any further queries please get back to us. thanks.
