Suggest Treatment For Elevated Levels Of Triglycerides In Blood

i hav high tryglycerides in my blood..is it herediterary ? both my parents hav high tryglycerides. i hav levels of 450 which is very high risk m on a wt loss means gettting fitter program becoz i m obese along side it what sort of medicines or drugs should i take to lower it . plz help.
age 23 yrs wt 90 kgs ht 5 foot 8 inch. no other problems father is heart patient had angioplasty done last yr though he is fit wt ht wise perfect bmi

Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Yes, 450 is very high risk and should be reduced.
2. There are hereditary disorders with elevated levels of triglycerides. However, at present you are having obesity related hypertriglyceridemia. Its not genetic. Evaluation for metabolic syndrome may be necessary.
3. Need atleast 20 kg weight reduction. Regular aerobic exercises is also necessary. At this level, if you are not able to reduce, you can go for LDL apheresis for immediate reduction and future maintenance. Medications like fibrates and statins could help, however, at these levels LDL apheresis is necessary.
