Suggest Treatment For Constipation With Bloody Diarrhoea

I have constipation with bloody diahrea, lots of gas in the morning and smells real bad. I had a bleeding ulcer 7 years ago and had to get 4 pints of blood but my symptoms were a it different (thought I had food poisioning, threw up coffee grounds and diahrea . I have beenn taking Miralax the last 4 days, only small bowel movement.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of constipation with bloody diarrhoea which could be due to many reasons such as

- Poor digestion of food

- Due to decreased gastric motility

- Inadequate intake of fluids and fiber rich diet

- Eating a lot of dairy products,

- Irritable bowel syndrome

- Some medications like antidepressants, acidity and certain conditions like hypothyroidism.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. You should start with drinking a lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement, osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity.
