Suggest Treatment For Bumps And Bald Spots On The Scalp Of A Child

Hi, my four year old daughter who is of afro-carib decent, has developed one large bald patch on her scalp and 2-3 smaller ones scattered around her head. I would say about 2months ago, i took her hair out of cornrows and she had a black flaky scalp in a particular area, when i washed her hair, the area with the black flaky scalp had disssapeard and so had her hair in that area. the doctors have given me keptopine, but this is not helping. she still gets puss like bumps on the bald spot, and hair is not growing back. Pls advise. thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She must be given a course of antibiotics for a period. Then skin ointment containing terbinafine locally. Once the lesion heals, hair will grow by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
