Suggest treatment for bronchial asthma

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... HI doctor I am suffering from breathing problems since 8 months. I had a bacterial/viral lungs infection 8 months back with whooping cough, never consulted doctor never took any antibiotic. My cough was there for 3 months then it become asthma like symptoms like fast breathing, tightness in breathing, i get these breathing problems two to 3 times a day. I am under broncodilater and corticosteroid under the advice of doctor. I learnt from net that antibiotics like azithromyzin can be used to cure adult onset asthma so is it feasible. I am totally depressed in my life, as I was in total health 8 months back. My age now is 26 years. Never has asthma bronchitis or any breathing problems ever in my life got it afer the lung infection. Please help me, Doctor

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are not having asthma.
Possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more likely in your case.
Bronchitis (inflammation of airways) is common after pneumonia.
Treatment of bronchitis should be done according to severity of the disease.
So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will tell you about severity of the disease.
Yoi may need longer acting inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
N acetyl cystine (NAC) is also beneficial in bronchitis.
Azithromycin can be tried for 5 days. But it's long term effects are not positive.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
