Suggest Treatment For Breathlessness And Facial Swelling
i suffer from copd since 3 years, a lot of calcification is observed in my lungs and i suffer from extreme breathlessness, i have been taking wysolone 30mg per day since 2months however i am becomimg more breathless everyday and my face is swelling can u please advise thank you
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. You are taking very high dose if oral steroid (wysolone) since long time (2 months). Oral steroids can cause facial edema. They can also damage kidneys and decrease urine output. So breathlessness and facial swelling are seen. End stage COPD can also cause similar symptoms by severe Pulmonary hypertension. So in my opinion, you should immediately consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, PFT (for severe of COPD), 2d echo (for severity of Pulmonary hypertension) and kidney function test. If possible, avoid oral steroids and increase the dose of inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
