Suggest Treatment For Blockage In Nose And Excess Mucus

I have been blowing my nose [congestion] and hocking up mucus[mostly pale yellow] for about a week now. I have seen Doctors [have been taking an anti-biotic] in case of infection, however, I am certain its for back up. They both believe I have a viral infection...the sinus dripping makes me cough [congestion cough/feels like I am choking]......this is what they think it is, correct? Not like emphysema or TB, right? So much flem, day and night!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, also known as Common cold that is a viral infection and it is leading to cough and phlegm..
It does not seems like Emphysema or Tuberculosis and looks like regular viral cold..
As the viral infection is not treated with anti viral medications and the symptoms can subside only once the virus completes its cycle and as of now you can simply take treatment to relieve the symptoms..
I would suggest you to take anti allergics like Levocetrizine, decongestants like Phenylephrine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You should do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day..
You can do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
You can do saline nasal irrigations and use decongestant nasal sprays like Xylometazoline..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods and take a soft bland diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
