Suggest Treatment For Bad Acid Reflux

I was prescribed omeprazole magnesium when I had stuck food removed. After my yearly check up three weeks ago my Doc renewed my meds. The "OM" I was previously taking was OTC. My Doc three weeks ago ordered Omeprazole and /I have been taking it. Tonight I had a very very bad acid reflux. I have tried to read the difference between the two "O" vs "OM". Could this be the reason for tonight reflux? Should I go get the "OM" OTC now and resume taking them?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Noted the history of food removed from esophagus one year ago and that you were taking Omeprazole Magnesium. On Endoscopy three weeks ago the Physician replaced the OM OTC to Omeprazole; got bad acid reflux tonight, wants to know whether this difference caused the reflux and whether to get started on the previous OTC - OM.
Ideally there is no relationship between the brands that you use and development of acid reflux.
Since you have a doubt, you can very well continue the previous brand that you used, that is Omeprazole Magnesium as OTC.
I think you should also get the following done:
Antacid every three hourly.
Add on after discussion with your Doctor the prokinetic like Domperidone or Metoclopramide so that you can get the acid to flow down.
Soft bland diet, small frequent feeds.
Control of anxiety and stress.
Good sleep in reclining position.
All these points will help you to get a good control of the reflux.
