Suggest Substitute Medication For Thyrowell

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism 15 yrs ago and been on high dosaThyrowell. What does it actually do and moreover Does it work. I live in South Africa but obtained the medication in India after consulting with a doctor there. Can it be obtained in S.Africa under the same/different name

Thyrowell is a vitamin and mineral supplement. It is not effective in treatment of hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism is due to deficiency of secretion of thyroid hormone from thyroid gland. Levothyroxine is the treatment of choice for hypothyroidism. You need to take levothyroxine for life-long. Any interruption in treatment will cause symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Dose of levothyroxine depends upon serum TSH level. Levothyroxine is available across the world. Brand name is different in different countries.
What you do?
First get done serum TSH and T4 level. This test must be available in South Africa too. You can visit a nearby pathological laboratory. Once you get the report you can post on this HealthCare magic portal. We will guide you about treatment after checking result of serum TSH and T4. Or you can consult any registered physician in South Africa.
