Suggest Remedy For Swelling In Foot Due To Acid Build Up

hi, my left foot is swollen. the problem cased is acid in my body currently I am taking one a day solone 25ml and today's is 1 tablet. I am told to take only 3 tablets additionally I am taking prodeine forte to reduce the pain but taking prodeine forte and one solone tablet didn't reduced the pain much and my foot is still swollen can I put some ice to cool down the temperature I currently feel on my foot or could you please advise something. thanks Frank

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Solone [prednisolone] is a corticosteroid which helps to reduce inflammation and when used for short course doesn't cause any major problem
2. prodeine forte [paracetamol and codeine] is used to relieve moderate to severe pain and works together to stop pain messages reaching the brain

3. It is probably hyperuricemia [high uric acid] or acute gouty arthritis for which I usually advice following management:

i. Since it is a metabolic disorder thus initially one should either go either with a uricosuric drug [probenecid] or xanthine oxidase inhibitor [allopurinol,febuxostat] for which one needs to consult a Rheumatologist, Urologist and a renal specialist for untoward side effects of the drug

ii. Avoid protein rich diet: [alcohol,meat,sea food,beans], strenuous activity and maintain hydration

iii. Applying an ice pack [as you are doing] helps reduce pain and inflammation and apply it for not more than 20 minutes at a stretch [several times a day]
