Suggest Remedy For Pain In Upper Jaw

Hi doc For about a week now I have been suffering from upper jaw pain radiating below the ear. It appears sensitive when I open mu mouth even wider. The pain is only on my right side and I have not experienced any swelling thus far. What could be causing it and which treatment may help. I m 8 weeks pregnant.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It might be due to TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction. As of now, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol (it’s safe in pregnancy) and avoid excessive opening of mouth. If symptoms persist, consult an dental surgeon.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
