I have a lump in the crease of my arm. I m 30, a sometimes smoker on low Thyroid meds and that is an area I ve had IVs before during labor and tubals....and wisdom teeth surgeries...oh and when my appendix croaked. Is it scar tissue or some deadly cancer I should be worried about? Also Im obese.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that your symptoms may be caused by lipohypertrophy, which is an abnormal accumulation of fat underneath the surface of the skin. It’s most commonly seen in people who receive frequent and multiple daily injections.

Another cause to take into consideration, would be a chronic inflammation or an abscess (infection).

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination and a complete blood count, to exclude the above possibilities.

Hope to have been of help!

Best regards,
Dr. Iliri
