Hi,
I understand your concern.
The delay in you period last time was due to
hormonal changes by
ovarian cyst.The cyst is managed by-
- Watchful observation. Many a times cyst resolves on it's own over few months. So it is observed at periodic interval for reduction in size.
- If it does not resolve after several months, medical treatment is given by oral contraceptives - the cyst resolves with this many a times,
- If the cyst does not resolve with
oral pills also/ gets bigger in size/ gets complex-- surgery is is done.
* In your case, the cyst being recently detected/ it had shown symptom only once till now ( delayed period)/ it is medium sized.. Mostly you will be offered oral contraceptives which help in it's resolution while periodic sonographic check up is kept.
* Interference with
fertility by ovarian cyst is seen only if cyst is associated with
PCOD / Endometriomas. They need treatment to conceive.
- But from your description/ USG report, your cyst seems to be functional-which does not interfere with conception.
Thanks.
