Hello
Thank you for asking question.
This is Dr Adil.
Your husband age is 78, and he has gastrointestinal bleeding. Black stools suggest, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, The bleeding that is coming from stomach or duodenum.

Do this patient also suffer from chronic hepatitis or some bleeding disorder. Why his colostomy was made.
Before giving any comment, one should run some tests, such as blood cp, liver and renal function tests, coagulation profile and uper GI endoscopy to confirm what's going on.

Your patient should be admitted in a good hospital setup and emergency investigations and treatment should be started.

I hope you have got my point.
You may ask more questions any time.
Kind Regards.
